Governor Paterson Urged to Sign
BEDFORD, NH – July 1, 2008 – Segway Inc., the leader in green, personal transportation today recognized the New York Legislature for passing legislation to allow for the safe and proper use of its products on the public ways of the State of New York. The company is now urging Governor Paterson to sign the bill into law, the legislation of which the New York State Senate passed recently 49 to 13 and the State Assembly by a 105 to 27 margin.
“With gasoline prices continuing to soar above the $4 per gallon level, and the need to address greenhouse gas emissions, the time is now to sign this legislation into law,” said Jim Norrod, Segway President and CEO. “New Yorkers need alternative transportation options that can ease our dependency on oil and the Segway Personal Transporter (PT) can help fill that need.”
A recent white paper authored by Segway Inc. researchers found that when compared to the average car, a Segway PT creates 14 times less greenhouse gas (a 93 percent reduction) and is 4.5 times more energy efficient than a hybrid car. The Segway PT is battery-powered and can travel up to 24 miles on a single charge.

Segway PT Tours have arrived!
Segway of the Hudson Valley is pleased to annouce New York’s first Segway Authorized Tour! Departing from our Poughkeepsie location, (35 Main St. Poughkeepsie, N.Y. across the street from the Poughkeepsie Train Station in Dooley Square). This one-of-a-kind experience glides along the Scenic Hudson and into Historic Poughkeepsie.
It’s called the ‘Segway Smile’ for a reason; be sure to experience this adventure first hand!

Segway of the Hudson Valley’s satellite location, Table Rock Tours and Bikes was recently involved in shooting a pilot episode of a show to be pitched to the Discovery Chanel.
The show is an environmental awareness show based on extreme sports such as mountain biking, rock climbing or sky diving.
It was pretty cool to watch what goes into shooting a TV show and it was an all around great experience to be around. Much thanks goes out to the crew and director for allowing one of our PT’s to be in the background. You might just see a Segway of the Hudson Valley branded x2 if this show gets picked up and perhaps even more…. If Rosendale, N.Y. is closer to you than our Poughkeepsie Show room, you can demo a Segway PT by appointment at Table Rock Tours.
And if you aren’t aware of the best bike shop in the Hudson Valley (ok, in my opinion) Be sure to stop by Table Rock Tours and Bikes in Rosendale, N.Y. sometime. Its worth the extra 7 mile trip out of New Paltz for the friendly service and knowledgeable employees. Besides repairs, sales and a quick smile, they rent bikes and perhaps more importantly offer guided rides of all the local trails and roads - an easy way to maximize a ride and learn the best routes.

This past Memorial Day weekend was one of the best I can remember. Grilling, time with family, backyard baseball, adult refreshments, mountain biking and a round of golf.
I hit the links a few times a year and its always with my three amigos (we’re something like the movie). It’s never a pretty thing. Sometimes we can hit the ball far and all marvel at the skill it took. Sometimes we sink a put and do the Tiger fist pump. Mostly, we look for our ball or spend time looking in the woods for others while we talk trash about how good we are. A good game is measured not in par, but evening out the ratio of lost to found balls. Overall, it’s a good time.
Rarely do we play a full 18 holes but somehow we ended up visiting 18 far reaching swaths of manicured grass on this outing. Somewhere around the 4 hour mark, I received that phone call every man dreads…”where are you, why is it taking so long? You said you’d be back by now…” As a newly (and quite happily) married man, my wife is already a very understanding woman who mostly ignores my antics inside the black hole of lost time, so I haven’t received too many of these calls. However I’ve heard older, more seasoned veterans of marriage discuss the conundrum amongst themselves.
Using the Segway PT Turf to play golf will speed up play. It makes logical sense; instead of me and my amigos zipping around the course looking for my ball, or other lost balls tied in pairs on carts, we are each our own entity, and can chase our missing orb quicker - some 30% quicker - if we we’re gliding on Segway PTs. So take my 6 hour round of “Golf”; If we played on PTs, I could have shaved roughly an hour and forty five minutes off of my round. Thats nothing to sneeze at.
The point being, play a round of golf on a Segway PT and you’ll be home to the wife and “kids” sooner - not in the rough that is the dog house.
